Schiphol

Haarlemmermeer is characterized by its flat landscape and broad horizons. Another equally characteristic feature is Schiphol airport. At night, the sparkling lights of the airport buildings are clearly visible from afar. During the day, the incoming and outgoing aircrafts are a constant reminder of its presence, as are the taxiing jumbos on the runways beside the highway. Haarlemmermeer has been home to the national airline industry from the very beginning, in the 1920s.
